Question:

Disney World character/dinner shows?

We are going to Disney World in June (getting htere mid-afternoon on Sunday and leaving on Friday morning). Our daughter will be 3 ½ years old by then and my parents will be coming along also. My husband and I were considering going to a dinner show/character dinner with Jocelyn to get away from my parnets for a few hours. We will all need a break from each other! I would love to go to Mickeys Back Yard BBQ, but they only have it on Sunday and Thursday. I was thinking something more in the middle of the week - Tues or Wed. But at the same time, I don't want to waste 4 or 5 hours on dinner. Any suggestions?

  1. The character meals are great!  Our kids really enjoy them.  Deciding which character meal to do depends a lot on which characters Jocelyn likes.  If she's a princess girl, then the princess breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table is super.  It's really hard to get reservations for it though.  You'll need to call as soon as they open (7:am EST) on the 180th day before you want to make reservations.  They generally are gone within minutes.  The number is 407 WDW-DINE.

If you can't get in there, the princess breakfast in EPCOT is very nice, too.  The princesses spend a lot of time one-on-one with your daughter and you'll get great pictures.

If she's more interested in Micky/Minnie, then Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary is really great.

Also, there is a Little Einstein's/Jo-Jo's Circus character meal at Hollywood Studios.

There are others, of course, some with Alice, Peter Pan, Lilo & Stitch, etc.  There's lots of choices, just find the one that has the characters Jocelyn would be most interested in.

  2. You can go to www.allearsnet.com to get details about different shows and character meals. the only problem I see is time. don't know how much time you want to spend at a meal. character meals are great because you can control. once you get all the pictures you want and are done eating, you can leave. most dinner shows have an early and and late show. i would suggest the early. show. less likely to run over in time. it happens but because they need to setup for another show, it is less likely. good luck.
