Disney family shows interest in Los Angeles Dodgers, planning to bid – MLB News
The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently facing some tough financial instability in their franchise and receiving bids for potential sale of the club in an order to avoid bankruptcy.
So far many giants of business have showed their interest to purchase Dodgers but recently a well known name in Hollywood, Disney has also come out in the media in a race to become potential owners of the Dodgers.
The Walt Disney family, whose production houses make approximately billions in a single particular year are now officially going to make a bid to purchase majority rights of the Southern Californian baseball team. While an official announcement will be coming
in the next few days.
Among many others, some very prominent names have already shown interest in the Dodgers including basketball legend Magic Johnson, Joe Torre, the Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban, Peter O'Malley and Frank McCourt.
The potential buyout money of the Dodgers is at least $1.6 billion and whoever bids higher will be holding the rights of the team’s affairs.
However, one source said, “A lot of people can get the bid book. And a lot of people will submit a non-binding bid because it's non-binding. But when it's time to talk money, that's when they have to get real. We'll see who is serious after that. Right now
there's just a lot of exuberance and talk.”
While another inside source also said, “We still don't even know what's really for sale here. So it's hard to have any idea of what you're bidding on yet.”
Though the Disney family has a strong financial backing but other potential bidders are also very experienced in sports franchising. Mark Cuban, who owns the Dallas Mavericks and basketball legend from the Los Angeles Lakers Magic Johnson have also a great
chance at the moment to purchase majority shares of the Dodgers.
The next few days are very critical when all these potential bidders will be placing their bids for purchasing the Los Angeles Dodgers. It will be interesting to see if Disney manages to outbid the others and take control of the franchise.
