Disney movie about a cat?

Question

There is a movie (I'm pretty sure it's a Disney movie) about a cat who is a detective.

Well actually he just leads his owners to clues.

It's a live action movie.

I think he comes home one day with an expensive collar around his neck or something.

It's probably mid to late 80's or maybe from before that.

Anyone have any ideas?
