My daughter is turning 3 on June 27, and her party will be held on the 28th. My husband and I are going with the Disney Princess theme since that's what she wants. I bought a few things like invites, games, goody bags. Being that our budget is only $200, I wanted to go with colors, and not a full on Disney everything. The games and goody bags and invites are actually Disney Princess, but I wanted to go with the theme's colors plates and napkins cause it's cheaper. As for the menu for adults were having chicken and veggie shish kaboks, hot dogs for kids, macaroni salad, fruit salad, rice salad, rolls. I just wanted to know if this sounds good so far, or If I left anything out. What about the colors? Does pink, yellow and light blue sound good? Also, what are some other little but important things that I could do? We were going to do a pink and brown cupcake themed party, but we had a hard time finding everything we needed for a 3 yr old's party. This will be a unisex party . Thanks

  1. Maybe some inexpensive paper crowns (that boys or girls could wear) like the ones they have at Oriental Trading Co. Actually you can probably find a ton of cheap things there for your party but it sounds like you have covered it.  You said you were going to do pink and brown cupcakes- so what did you end up for the cake? That's always the sort of focal point of a kid's party so do that up princess-style!

  2. I think your color scheme sounds very good.

Have the kids decorate their own cupcakes.  Have a table set up with plastic knives forks and spoons... icing and goodies to sprinkle on the top.  Dried fruits and nuts would be a great healthy option for this.

    For Decorations:

Make a ballroom complete with the plain white Christmas lights.

    For Activities:

Have a ball... a real ball.  Play classical disney songs and classical waltzes.  Have parents teach the kids how to dance.  (Very simply)

Kids age three love to dance and love attention.  They will also love to dress up.

Go to a cheap dollar store... buy dress up items ...such as tiaras and rings and necklaces.... and feather boas.

Go to a Goodwill or resale shops where you can find adult size small formal dresses... bring them home and cut them apart... cut the bottom off... cut the sleeves shorter.  No sewing.  Cut the back right down the middle and then use scarves to tie the dress on... (like a belt) when the girls where them to the 'Ball'.  This will be a perfect size for the girls to wear.  Let them pick stuff out and decorate themselves the way they want.

Find old suit coats and hats.  When the boys wear the suit coats they will look like princes.  Go to Burger King and get paper crowns.... lay them out flat and spray paint them with silver and gold paint for the boys to wear.

For the girls hats.... Curl some pink and yellow paper to make hats leaving a hole at the top to make a cone.  Tie a knot at the end of some toule and pull it through the end of the hat.  Fold the end of the hat point down one inch and staple the paper and toule together.  Use a hole punch to put one hole on either side of the bottom of the hat and add some elastic thread.  These can be the party hats for the boys.

For a game... you can buy some swords to give to the boys and play ... 'Resuce the Princess'... sort of like 'Hide N Seek' with a twist.  The girls go hide and then the boys seperate and try to find the girls.  They rescue the princesses and bring them back to the couch which is the safe zone... or do this out in the yard where the kids can run and play.

You could do a game called the 'Kings Treasure'.  Take some of the fake jewels and put them into two different boxes.  Then make up a treasure map for two teams.  (make this like a scavenger hunt with one clue leading to the next)  Each team has a box of treasure to find at the end of the search.  The team to find their treasure first wins the prize.  Make the clues easy for three year olds to follow... such as pictures.

They will understand and love this game.  It is much like Dora the Explorer...or Blues Clues.

    Have a great party!!!
