Displaying Wedding Cake on plates of different heights?

I am makeing a wedding cake for my daughter in June. I have never made a tiered cake, so I would like to display the cake on cake plates of different heights. Kind of like the Wilton Scrollwork cake plates. Has anyone used these plates? or does anyone know where I can get plates like those? I want to make 14", 10", and 6" cakes, so I am just looking for cake plates to display them on, something easy and stable. Thanks for any help you can give!

  1. Visit the link in Sources and check out the Cakes 'N More 3 Tiered Party Stand.  The largest stand holds a 12 inch, not 14 like you wanted, but it may still work.  Or try one of the Floating Tiers cake stands.

I like the Cakes 'N More one because it is only $30.  Buy it at a Hobby Lobby or Michaels with a 40% off coupon and it is an even better deal.  Other than Hobby Lobby and Michaels, other stores that carry the Wilton products are Joann's and small independent cake decorating shops.  See if there is one in your area; I'm sure they'd have more options as well.

  2. Try cakecentral.com  I think.  It's a massive site that has recipes, pics and tips (including message boards) from semi-pros and pros.  Have fun!   Do a trial run long before the wedding.  You might need more than one trial run.  A local police department, fire department or hungry neighbor would be glad to take the trial run off of your hands.

  3. You can always buy any strong base and then use new pizza pans as your cake plate. They come in different sizes. Walmart has cheap, pretty brushed silver ones.
