Has there ever been an instance where an umpire made a call that could have gone either way, and the manager of the team it went against or player argued and had the call reversed?

  1. I have change calls before in little leauge and the other manager didnt like it.

Yes there has plenty of them

  2. Yes but it is not reversed because the manager argued. It would be because the argument caused the umpires to conference and a call could be overridden.

  3. Yes, this happens more often than you would think.  However, it is important to know that the umpire that made the call must be the one that is approached.  He would then have to go to his partner(s) and ask what they saw.  And even if he does that, ONLY the umpire that made the call can reverse it.

  4. I umpire High School Baseball and have seen calls changed very rarely.  If an umpire has misinterpreted a rule and he/she confirms that with their partner they will change their call.  I have never seen an umpire change their mind on a judgment call (ie: safe or out, fair or foul, etc)

  5. Yes, but in most cases this call doesn't get reversed. The umpires have a meeting and discuss the call and only that umpire can change the call. Only if there is reasonable doubt could the umpire change the call.

  6. Yes, Brian Jordan of the Braves hit a home run off the very bottom of the foul pole where it is painted black. This is a home run and it was initially ruled that. Frank Robinson argued at his home field and got the call reversed. The Braves of course lost that game 3-2.
