ive got this teacher and hes soo mean! i love math and im great at it but he always looks down on me and hates me giving the correct answer! ive heard him moaning about my 'bad' behaviour (I AM NEVER BADLY BEHAVED!!!) and asking the principal if he can get me out the class (i think this is because he doesnt like the fact i can guess how to solve equations before hes shown us how) and so i went angry with him and let him know it! not in a face-to-face way but i gave him evils and stuff. another guy has taught me for the past few months but i want to show this teacher that i can be respectful and pleasant but i want him to respect me as i have respected him in the past. how do i do this?

  1. sounds like he doesn't deserve your kindness. if you are being harassed in class and the principal isn't helping then bring it up to the school board. you'd probably be better off in another classroom where you can forcus on your studies

  2. Sweetheart,

You are behaving badly if you're calling out answers and showing others how to solve things the way you do it.  What you don't realize is that many, many, MANY students struggle in math. And when students (who may be very good students, but are not trained to teach) call out answers or try to solve a problem, those struggling students tune out.  Studies show their thinking to be, "What's the use? I don't get what she's saying."  Students do that with qualified teachers, so how can you expect them to just understand you when you're firing off at 90 mph?

It's absolutely great that you're so good at math.  You wouldn't believe the kind of future and money you can make at it. But, please, PLEASE let the teacher try to reach these guys that just don't get it and really, really are about to just give up.

  3. i would just leave it alone... just be happy with your self that you know what your doing.. and it bs that the teacher treating you like that. he should be fired..

  4. Just leave it, he doesn't care a stitch about what you have to say or think, this is how teachers are when it comes to kids. If you have been outdoing him in front of the class he is probably feeling a bit resentful towards you because it makes you look smarter then him in front of everyone. Just get on with what you are doing with the new teacher and don't bother yourself over this you won't get anywhere and will probably only succeed in aggravating him more.

  5. you can tell your administration at your school how she is being disrespectful.

then they will get other administration assitance to come in once and a while to surveillance her behavior.

  6. You have to earn respect in this life, give it a try, Perhaps he thinks you are a conceited little knowall.Perhaps he is right !

  7. Get over it.  One of the many lessons students should learn in school is how to play the game.  Do you think you will like all your bosses when you grow up?  You are getting an early course in how to behave when you don't like your boss!

Besides, I've got news for you: you ARE badly behaved if you are guessing at your answers and making a big deal out of if when you're right without going through the procedure he is teaching.  You obviously are not experienced enough yet to see that your lessons are not just about getting the answers.  Math starts easy and gets progressively more difficult as the years pass.  It is not rare for a student to be intuitive about the answers when starting out.  If you persist in ignoring the lessons, however, you will be lost when the problems get difficult and your guessing doesn't work anymore.  Get off your high horse and listen.

If you want to gain his respect, stop acting like a know-it-all.  You are NOT his peer.  Take notes.  Let others have a chance to shine.  Try writing your answer on the margin of your paper instead of feeling compelled to show everyone how smart you are all the time.
