Dissolvable Stitchesz On Lip Haven't Dissolved??

Well August 4th i busted my lip pretty bad and had to get 4 stitches on my lip. I was told they should dissolve in about 2 weeks most but they still haven't dissolved. It just looks like the tips on the outside are getting longer but everything else looks the same. My lip has already healed it just looks like i have tiny holes in my lip where the stitch comes out everything else is fine. Also, I don't know if this is normal as I've never had stitches before but in the inside of my mouth where my lip was busted it has a bit off swelling and that is the spot where most of the stitches intersect?? Is it normal for them to take long to dissolve??

  1. Dissolvable stitches are funny things; the estimated time depends on loads of factors & they tend to come apart without warning and suddenly you'll find you've got a bit of white (or purple) thread in your mouth.

Don't stress about it- the reason the swelling's around the concentration of stitches is probably because that's where the most damage was.

Your lip's probably healed fully, but leave 'em another week and they should be long gone by then. If they're still giving you grief- go to whoever put them in & hassle him!

  2. don't you have a follow up for the stitches?
