Hello, My prescription is -1.50, so since I am in school I usually have to keep them on because we do most of the work from the board 14th grade, College. So I have distance vision glasses (Myopia) I am getting new glasses this week, can I keep them on for reading/writing, because my doctor told me to wear the everyday, I asked them about that, he said I could get progressive but there would be not much difference also, My prescription says -1.50 > Distance.

  1. How old are you?

  2. 23 is a little young for progressive lenses, but I guess that everyone is different?

Whatever you can see through the best is what you should be using. If you feel more comfortable and can see better with them on at close up vision, then wear them. If your vision is clearer at close up without them then don't wear them. You have never mentioned if you have an astigmatism or not (if your eye is totally spherical or not). It is pretty much whatever makes you more comfortable and makes you see better.

  3. I have the same distance vision. After 40 years of age or more you will NOT be able to focus on near objects with them on, but as a young person you will be fine. Progressives are in your future not your present. Enjoy!

  4. Unless you are getting on close to 40 , you shouldn't have any problem focusing up close with them on.

Reading and distance can all be done with the same power lenses when you are young. The lens of the eye takes care of the focusing at the different distances.
