According to Google maps it is about 13km, which seems a bit far to me....but check it out for yourself.

Not far art all.

But It depends which dock at civitavecchia you will be at.  The station is at the southern-most tip of the port.  From the entrance at the south, it is only about 600 yards away.  From the northern docks (The big ships), it can be up to 2500 yards away.

Either way, there is shuttle service between the various docks and the entrance.

The train station in Civitavecchia is about a 10 minute walk from the entrance to the port area. The port area itself is quite large. There's a free shuttle between the port entrance and the various locations at the port.
