  1. Both are true depending on the depth of feelings. If someone feels deeply for a loved one who is far away, the feeling grows stronger with the absence of the loved one. The absence intensifies the depth of the feeling. However, "distance makes the heart grow fonder" is more applicable to the women who are more sentimental than men. And the "out of sight, out of mind" is more applicable to the men who are more often happier away from their wives, and free to chase younger women.

  2. Firstly, it's distance makes the heart grow fonder. And it depends on the situation. When it's the case that one half puts the other up on a pedastal, then distance probably does help. However, it's notable than long distance relationships, especially at the start or when the people are in their early twenties, tend to fail quite often.

  3. Neither is "the truest".

"Distance makes the heart grow fonder" is an adage that relates to appreciating someone who you perhaps take for granted, until you are away from that person for a period of time.

"Out of sight -- out of mind" is an expression of escapism. In psychological terms, you are "repressing" your thoughts and feelings. It is impossible to to simply forget about something that has caught your attention and brings about emotion. You'll either 'feel' it and and express the thoughts and feelings, or internalize the pain by avoiding it. If it's a painful thought or situation that you'd rather not deal with, and you opt for the "out of sight; out of mind" route, you are repressing your feelings ---not a healthy way to deal with any situation. You WILL carry the internalized emotions with you. They will grow along with you too. It's healthy to feel and express your emotions, and move on from your experience(s).

Express yourself at all cost -

  4. OUT OF SIGHT OUT OF MIND FOR SURE! LOL

  5. It really depends on your situation and the person in question. If it's someone you really care and love about, not seeing them isn't and won't be enough to forget them. In cases like crushes, out of sight, out of mind really does work over time. With anything time relieves the pain and heals the wounds, but never will the scars fade away.
