Distant Ocean to pair up victories by claiming the SDC Trailers Trophy at Hall Green
The SDC Trailers Trophy will get held at Hall Green over 480 metres flat on Tuesday, 24th April. Taking part in the £175 prize money event are Ballymac Eat, Roseville Bullet, Clogher Rose, Bursary Boy and Distant Ocean.
The most accomplished entry on the line-up is Distant Ocean, Crash’s two-year-old black son out of b***h, Distant Sparky. He shot into the season on 24th January in a 480 metres race at Swindon and had to compromise the victory as the winner, Distant Midnight, took 30.00 seconds to settle the race.
Surprisingly, even during the second start, Distant Ocean parked as the runner up after Distant Midnight had taken 27.09 seconds to complete the 450 metres trip on 31st January at Poole.
The first time that the two-year-old won was on 14th February in a Grade A3 450 metres flat at Poole by timing the track distance in 26.93 seconds. The 7/4 favourite winner led the runner up, Reeve Kay, by 4 ¾ lengths.
Settling third behind the winner was Firpits Alfie.
He paired up the success by bagging the Grade A1 Owner’s Bonus Series (Heat 1) PGOTA at Poole on 28th February over 450 metres. Distant Ocean clocked the distance in 26.94 seconds and shoved the 2/1 favourite of the race, Cleveland Lois, by just half a length.
Crossing the wire third in line behind the winner was Goldeneye.
The race that was to translate into a hat trick turned into a dreadful sixth position for Distant Ocean who took 27.41 seconds to race sixth after the winner even when entered as the 7/4 favourite.
The race was won by Kingsmill Lotus who was soon joined by Coolykereen Cab.
His third triumph of the season came on 18th March when Distant Ocean raced through the Bags/Sis Easter Bunny 450 – Heat 1 on 18th March at Poole in 26.88 seconds. The 6/4 favourite winner was joined by Caloona Clay.
P. Ruddick’s trainee then missed the next three races that came his way and finally posted a victory through the most recent start.
Distant Ocean won a Grade A1 450 metres flat at Poole on 14th April after settling the distance in 27.18 seconds. The 2/1 favourite of the race, Glencarra Wizard, stationed third behind the winner after racing for 27.30 seconds.
