However Distin, who arrived at Goodison Park from Portsmouth for a 5 million pounds transfer fee in August 2009, revealed that he had to work hard right from the start to secure a place in the starting eleven, and despite competing with the other defenders
for a place in the team, he enjoyed a good rapport with them.

The following season will be Distin’s 15th of his professional career. When asked if he was contemplating making a retirement in the near future, he negated the suggestion by indicating that he was feeling even healthier and fitter than the time

He added, “No matter what your age, you gain experience and there’s always something to learn, and the more you play the better you can be.”
