Distinguish between mechanistic and the organic organizations.

What are the distinguishing differences between mechanistic and organic organizations?

Organic would indicate that the organization had all the components necessary to stay in operation.   I have never heard of the word "mechanistic" and don't even know if it is an English word.  I will guess and say that Mechanistic organizations are controlled by an external entity and not completely self-contained. /
