  1. the distributive property is used if you have an equation like

    4(3x + 9)=20

    or something like that..

    sorry..but did you type the equation wrong because otherwise you would just multiply the numbers

  2. Just multiply 4 on each digit of number 915852. Starting from the left to right.

    While multiplying 4, there's a chance that the answer will be a two digit number. Like if you multiply 4 on 5, 8, 5 and 9.

      9 1 5 8 5 2

    x              4

    ------------------

    36 6 3 4 0 8

    If you will try to write the answer for 5 x 4 (20) after the 2 x 4 (8). Write the first digit of the answer (0) and then just carry the 2 next to 5 (that's 8). Just like addition, you multiply first 8 and 4 before adding the carried number.

  3. First you would multiply the 4 x 2.  You get 8 so 8 is your last number.  Then 4 x 5 which is 20.  You write down 0 which will be your second to last number and carry the 2 over the 8.  When you multiply 4 x 8 you get 32 plus the 2 carried over is 34.  You write down the 4 which will be your third to last number and carry the 3 over the 5.  4 x 5 is 20 plus 3 is 23.  Write down the 3 and carry the 2.  4 x 1 is 4 plus 2 is 6.  Write down 6.  Because this is not a 2-digit number, there is nothing to carry over.  4 x 9 is 36.  Because 9 is the last number to be multiplied by 4, you write down both the 3 and the 6.  Your final answer should read 3,663,408.  To make it easier and neater I would suggest using graph paper and lining up each place of the number in a box and below it write the 4 like this:         915852

                                                                  x       4

    I hope this is clear and helps you.

  4. i think youve given a too simple example here

    4x52=208

    4x800=3200

    4x5000=20000

    4x10000=40000

    4x900000=3600000

    now add them together

    =3663408

    a better example of distributive law would be

    7x(3x-4)=0

    here you would multiply the terms inside the brackets by the term outside the brackets

    (7x*3x)-(7x*4)=0

    21x^2-28x=0

    divide both sides by 7x

    3x-4=0

    move the term to the other side

    3x=4

    simplify and answer

    x=4/3

    thats a better example of distributive property for you

  5. like the example

    3(6x + 4) =48

    bring three over to the six and 4(because they are in the parentheses

    18x + 12= 48

    subtract 12 on both sides

    18x = 36

    Divide 18 on both sides

    x=2

    Now do it on your problem

    Hope that Helps and good Luck

  6. Well, this problem isn't so much a distributive problem. However the answer to this is 3,663,408.

    An example of the Distributive property is like this.

    (2) X (3 + 5)

    ^-------^-----^

    So, to solve this problem you must distribute the 2. When the term "distribute" is used, it really just means to use it on all parts of the problem. So, if you "distribute" the 2:

    [(2)X(3)] + [(2)X(5)]

    ------------^^-------------don't forget to bring in your plus sign

    Then, simplify:

    (6) + (10) = 16!

    It's really pretty easy once you get used to it.

    I hope this helped!!!!!

  7. 4 X (900000 + 10000 + 5000 + 800 + 50 + 2)

    (4 X 900000) + (4 X 10000)  + (4 X 5000) + (4 X 800) + (4 X 50) + (4 X 2)

    3600000 + 40000 + 20000 + 3200 + 200 + 8

    3640000 + 20000 + 3200 + 200 + 8

    3660000 + 3200 + 200 + 8

    3663200 + 200 + 8

    3663400 + 8

    3663408

  8. okay so distributive property... uhm i'm going to use a different example to show you how to do this

    Lets begin with a simple problem such as.

    6(4 + 2)

    Obviously anything in the parenthesis should be done first.

    So the problem becomes

    6(6)

    A number next to parenthesis means multiplication.

    which means you are multiplying 6 by itself one time.

    6 multipiled by 6 is 36.

    Another way to do this problem is to distribute the number to both parts of the equation.

    6(4+2)

    6(2) + 6(4)

    6 times 2 is 12

    and 6 times 4 is 24

      12

    +24

      =

      36

    Easy right?

    Lets try something less easy.

    7(5x+9)

    this means i want 7 multiplied by the sum of 5x+9.

    so the problem then looks like this

    (7*5x) + (7*9)

    35x+63

    now isn't that a lot easier to solve than the original 7(5x+9)
