Divers tipped to win Hillhouse Quarry Handicap Chase
Divers is tipped to win the Hillhouse Quarry Handicap Chase at Ayr in England on Friday, April 20, 2012. The winner of the class-2 event will be given a cash prize of £15,640 in the end.
The going will be good in the 2 mile 4 furlong race, which is scheduled to start at 16:00 GMT, and a total of 10 runners will be seen in action. Their names are as follows: Divers, The Knoxs, Torphichen, Gansey, De Boitron, The Panama Kid, Woody Waller,
I Hear A Symphony, Allanard and Natal.
Divers has got a pretty decent record in chase races, thus the punters have awarded him with the best odds. However, his recent performances have been a touch shaky, which suggest that the punters might not risk a lot of money in his favour.
The eight-year-old gelding has taken part in nine chase events, winning three of them. Moreover, he has also secured the third spot on a couple of occasions, which proves that he is a competitive horse.
However, the Ferdy Murphy’s trainee has lost form over the past couple of races, thus he is not carrying a good momentum right now. He finished fourth in his most recent run, which was not a bad result, but he could have ended up in the top three.
Divers will be partnered by A. P. McCoy, who is a legendary jockey. He has managed to win 316 chase races at a very good strike rate, thus the punters always place a lot of bets in his favour.
Apart from the race favourite, Gansey also has got plenty of experience at this level. He has participated in 17 chase races until now, winning four of them. Moreover, he has also got a few third place finishes to his name.
The 10-year-old gelding has been in decent form over the past few months, performing consistently. He finished third in his most recent race, but simply failed to challenge the top two in that event, which will discourage the punters from placing bets in
his favour.
Gansey will be ridden by Jason Maguire, who is considered to be one of the finest riders at present.
The Knoxs and Torphichen are the other two runners, likely to challenge their rivals for victory.
