  1. there are people that know how to work the system to their advantage the more fuel we give them the more they go.  We need to just ignore them and their stupid little things and look at the bigger picture.

  2. This is me playing the age card again: I've learned that somewhere between the story the accuser is telling and the story the accused is telling generally lies the truth. So if I look at this from both sides here's my view of the middle ground:

    1) Did some of these comments actually get spoken by some NASCAR employees? Probably, BUT, those same employees likely talked like that all the time and it's also likely that the disgruntled employee had heard it all before just like others had. If she said nothing the first time it occured then she has cooked her goose because if you allow it the first time, the legal system will want to know why you didn't speak up sooner.

    2) My big question: IF we are going to say that NASCAR is primarily a sport of white folks/rednecks, then if you are NOT a white folk/redneck would you even apply for a job there?!? I don't give a hoot about you needing to make money to feed your family.....I certainly would not go looking for a job in a setting that I knew might put me in an awkward position with folks I have nothing in common with!

    3) Then there's NASCAR the corporate entity: Yes the general image of the sport is that it's mostly white folk. Yes it's primarily based on Southern principles. Yes it needs to "explore" whether changing it's image by attracting "diverse" people. And when you do that, you make darn sure all your "regular folk" get a quickie course in political correctness and appropriate "speak".

    4) Every good ole boy I grew up with (back in that former century) had bad habits just like those alluded to in that suit and probably still do. My BFF who now lives in the Little Rock area STILL tells jokes he shouldn't and sends me things he still finds funny. I always respond that he's supposed to have outgrown such things by now but I think he thinks I'm joking! My point is, these offending other officials at NASCAR no doubt don't have a clue that they've "sinned" against political correctness.

Have we as a country gone too far with political correctness? Absolutely. But did we need to modify our behavior a tad? Absolutely. And a lot of the things in that law suit appear to be a matter of perception on the part of the disgruntled employee. I believe it will be difficult to prove intent of wrong doing.

    Sorry for the long post.

  3. This is an old scam and NASCAR fell for it. I hope they have the B***s to fight it and hire people by their qualifications ,not because they have to fill an affirmative action quota.

  4. The Frances had nothing to do with this.

IF, IF the accusations are true, it was NASCAR field employees that were the problem, not management or owners.

And, the get rich schemes have been there all along. I bet NASCAR gets sued all the time, but the suits probably have no merit so are subsequently thrown out.

As far as diversifying goes, just what should NASCAR do? Should they wait for some ACLU lawsuit to tell them they must let in x percent (insert your favorite) drivers to diversify the sport. They can't do it, they would have to enforce it in ALL sports. Diversification will make its way into racing in time. Look how long it took to get drivers that were from the North or West of the Mason/Dixon line.
