  1. (x^2)/x=x so u have:   (x^2)-18x+80   |x-10

    _______________ _(-x^2)+10x+80| x

    ______________________-8x+80

    then        -8x+80|x-10

    _______8x+80|x-8

    _______= ===

    finaly you have :   (x^2)-18x+80 / x-10 = x-8

  2. These kinds of problems are easy - the factoring is the only challenging part.

    Factor the numerator (and denominator if needed).

    Numerator:

    x^2 - 18x + 80  = (x - 10) (x - 8)

    Denominator:

    (x - 10) ← already in lowest terms

    Now you have:

    (x - 10) (x - 8)

    -------------------

    (x - 10)

    The (x - 10) / (x - 10) cancels, leaving you with:

    (x - 8) ← Final answer

    Good luck in your studies,
