The Class 6 Chase Meredith Memorial Trophy (Hunters’ Chase) is to be held on Thursday, 1st March at Ludlow over three miles. The race has attracted eleven runners and the £1, 560 purse is to be awarded to the winner.
Divine Intavention, Exit To Nowhere’s eight-year-old bay gelding out of mare Merrill Gaye, is in for a hat trick in case he leaves the track victorious today. He has got the seasonal debut under his belt as Divine Intavention won the Pontispool Equine Sports Centre Hunters’ Chase on 21st February at Taunton over two miles and seven and a half furlongs.
The 9/4 favourite winner of the race was in lead of 1 ¾ lengths with Armenian Boy ending as the runner up and Kiama settling into the third position on a field of nine.
Not only did Divine Intavention pull through impressively during his 2012 welcome race rather he waved good bye to the previous season in the similar manner.
Divine Intavention won the Geostar Hunters’ Chase on 15th May 2011 at Market Rasen over two miles and six and a half furlongs. He led by half a length, cornering the 6/5 favourite of the race, Bob Hall, into the runner up’s slot while to race through the wire third after the winner was Blandings Castle.
During the first start of the 2011 season, Divine Intavention unseated his ride Mr. M. Wall and resultantly had to be declared unraced. Otherwise there were chances that the eight-year-old would have had an unbeaten 2011 season due to the only two attempts he made.
Today’s race is putting forth a chance for Divine Intavention to record his second win of the season along with claiming a hat trick.
The ten-year-old Double Mead, Double Trigger’s bay mare out of mare Normead Lass, has been entered as a favourite in the last three races that she had taken part in. Out of those, she won twice.
She won the Totepool Cheltenham Festival Betting At Totesport.Com Hunters’ Chase on 17th March at Towcester over two miles and six furlongs.
On 31st March, Double Mead won the Bitterley Point To Point Hunters’ Chase at Ludlow over two miles and four furlongs.
She got defeated to a seventh position in her last start of the previous season but if she delivers sincerely then Double Mead has the chances of threatening the field today.
