Diving Rule?

Question

A couple of days ago, at my schools regional diving and swimming meets, I was on the diving board and took off my swimming costume only because I felt I could defeat the number one swimmer in the state by a simple task of more aerodynamics. Unfortunately I am now suspended and out of diving and swimming. Why is this? Did I break some sort of rule?

I believe walking around in nothing is a crime in most states.
