Both my coach and my dad say I practically fall in the water. I'm a competitive swimmer so the start is VERY important. I can dive, but I need to know how to dive out more. Just simple tips will do thanks.

  1. Use a swim noodle. Practice doing starts from lane 1 while your coach or someone holds out a swim noodle. When you do the start don't look at it, but try to go over it like a hurdle.

Start by having it kind of close to you and at an easy distance to dive over. As you get better move it farther and farther back.

Getting out on your dive can also be as simple as remembering to use your legs. It sounds dumb, but make up a key word for yourself that you say (in your head) right as you're diving in. Something like "legs" or "jump."
