Diving how hard is it and is it easy to learn?

Diving looks like fun I'm 16 and I just found out that an American diver didn't start till she was 15 which is alot later then most girls who are in the Olympics now so I'm wondering how long it would take me to excell in the sport to be able to compete?

Yes automatic is so easy you eouldn't beleive it

now stick on the other hand is hard lol.

i don't know, it depends on your capacity to learn. my friend learned to dive in just a few hours of practicing, but to compete? maybe it'll take you months or probably years. good luck and keep practicing.

I'm 15 and saw the olympics.. and am now really excited to try diving! Im also an extreme beginner!

Here's what I did: I went to the website of my local city, clicked on recreation, and then I looked at the different courses they had for aquatics you can even register online, and there is one called beggining diving, and it goes up to level 4. Level 1 culminates in a city-wide diving meet! Check if your local pools have courses on diving :) Good luck! It is a truly beautiful sport, and I also want to get involved! (Haven't quite gotten up the guts to sign up yet!!)

I'm not sure how tough it is to get good, but a weekly course is a great start!!

It really depends on how fast a learner you are. If you want to compete at the olympic level it will take many years of dedication and intense training, however if you want to enter some club competitions or dive for your high school it should not take to long to learn enough dives in order to compete, although it might take a few years until you start winning competitions. Also gymnastics experience really helps in diving, former gymnasts tend to progress faster and be more successful in the sport. And yes you should join a club, you will get the best coaching and progress faster though a club program that offers year round training, but if  this is not possible see if your high school has a diving team you can join.
