Wellington North’s Gronya Somerville played her given role to perfection and fetched a vital match point for her team by stamping Courtney Trillo in Division 1-Wisden Cup on August 10, 2012.

Both contenders remained head-to-head for three gruelling sets before ending this showdown with 11-21, 21-19 and 21-19 margin.
The victorious shuttler came back from behind and locked the honour by winning the last two games of the match.
On the other hand, Courtney Trillo failed to make best out of her initial advantage and surrendered tamely.
She displayed commendable craft on court in opening game of the match and stunned her rival with a mountainous lead of ten points in the final result.
She set the foundation of her victory by grabbing couple of consecutive points in the beginning and then capitalised this early advantage in later part of the game.
In first half, Courtney mounted pressure with an indomitable total of 11 and then she magnified the impact by registering an overwhelming figure of 21-11 in the second half of the set.
However, things were not that much easy for her in following game as the opposing shuttler switched on the best after going one down and managed to keep the contest alive.
The Wellington North campaigner did not show any sign of bewilderment after first set loss and made amends by employing unbeatable tactics.
Gronya Somerville kick-started her campaign by prevailing in opening rallies and then confined her challenger in rear court with power packed strokes.
Though, she committed some unforced errors in third quarter of the set but then re-established her grip in the final moments to place a winning margin of 21-19.
The decider proved a replay of the previous set as Courtney again failed to stand against her competitor’s intensive attack.
First sign of trouble came just before the interval when she dropped few valuable points in a row and then kept trailing behind all the way to game point situation.
Meanwhile, Gronya maintained the upper hand throughput the third set and wrapped the show with 21-19 score on the board.
