Division I collegiate sand volleyball receives three more USAV HP Players – Volleyball news
Following the addition of nine USA Volleyball (USAV) Beach High Performance (HP) players in last fall season, the NCAA Division I collegiate sand volleyball programme has recently recruited three more players of the same capacity.
According to USA Volleyball, Emily Podschweit, Ashley Prince, and Karlee Kavanaugh have signed letters to play for National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I in the regular 2012 season.
Ali Wood Lamberson, the director of beach programmes for USAV, expressed delight on the addition of new players.
He stated, “We are thrilled to see three more of our Beach HP athletes signing sand scholarships. We are honoured that the top universities are recognizing that USAV High Performance Programs represent the highest level of training available in the United
States. The level of competition in NCAA sand volleyball is certain to continue to rise, providing a continuation of the USAV Beach pipeline.”
Ashley Prince comes from Allen, Texas and she has been one of the top players of Lovejoy High School volleyball team. Likewise, Emily Podschweit of Parker, Colorado proved her endeavours at the Chaparral High School volleyball programme.
Both these players will now play under the leadership of Coach Rita Crockett at Florida International in Miami. On the other hand, Karlee Kavanaugh of Chugiak, Alaska has signed the letter of interest to play for Georgia State. The Georgia State volleyball
squad is supervised by head coach Tami Audia.
The 18-year old Ashley Prince is a multi-talented player. In the recent years, she has immensely contributed to the overall growth and success of Lovejoy High School volleyball programme. She has played against the positions of right side hitter, middle
blocker, libero, and outside hitter.
She also paved her way to the fifth slot at the 2011 USAV Beach High Performance Championships. Furthermore, she grabbed a lot of attention at 2011 USAV Beach Junior Tour Championships in Chicago when she was placed second.
Equally talented Emily Podschweit is known for her aggressive play. She can serve with a lot of power and has done extremely well for Chaparral High School volleyball team. She is credited for 527 digs, 93 aces, 12 assists and 25 kills in the season. Karlee
also has earned a great fame while playing for Chugiak High School team. All three players will now display their amazing game skills in the NCAA Div. 1 Tournament.
