I am currently going through a divorce. We have no kids.I am an E4 right now living off post collecting BAH and BAS.I know when the divorce is final BAH stops than. But my question is about BAS.I know single soldiers under E5 deal with the meal card. But my lifes debts are highly afflicted onto the BAS.

What im trying to Say is if they cut my BAS wheni get divorced i will not have ample enough money to pay bills. Is there anything i can do?

I did not expect to be getting a divorced so thats why i budgeted money is such ways.

I am not asking about the BAH i can deal with them taking away. Its the BAS that if they take away would hinder my ability to pay bills

  1. Try for COLA instead.

  2. Depending on your command, you will probably move back into the barracks. That will end the worry about cash. 3 hots and a cot provided, no rent, no worries................

  3. Your ability to pay your bills after losing bas and bah ,

Doesn't mean beans to the military.

You need to straighten out your finances.

Whether you can keep BAH or BAS, will depend on your Command.

Their decision will be based on the availability of barracks space on Post.

There are not to many people living in the barracks, who are allowed to keep BAS.

What are you gonna do when you go to BNCOC or ANCOC and they make you go off of BAS while in the course ?

  4. You will still get BAH, just the single rate, unless you have to move into the dorms, but that depends on where you are stationed.

Also, BAS is only about 290.  It's money for food and I'm sure you spend that much on food per month, so it should not affect your budgeting.

  5. This is something you need to explain to your chain of command and NCO support channel. Have these said bills already laid out already  showing your how adjusted income with affect it.

Don't just say " I need the money cause I'll be broke Sarge and this is bullshyt."

That will not sell this to your CO and Finance.

  6. If you get divorced, they're most likely going to ask you to move back on base.  However, if you talk to your commander, you may get this waived.  Check with your chain of command.

  7. They should not take away BAS unless you are moving back into the single dorms and you will continue to get BAH but it won't be married BAH!!  Good luck!!!!!!!!!!
