Dizzy Miss Lizzy runs circles around the competition in A2 win at Swindon
The speed of a racing greyhound as it makes its way down the 480m track at the Swindon Greyhound Stadium is something that can often create a dizzying effect for racing fans. But Dizzy
Miss Lizzy managed to keep things together and win the first of two A2 races.
Dizzy Miss Lizzy was one of three 3-1 co-favourites in the race, but of the three, she had the best result. After bounding out of trap two, she always led the pack, which led her to a
first-place finish in 29.56. Finishing just a shoulder’s length behind her was Nats Warrior (4-1). He crowded first, but ran on to match the winning time of 29.56.
Locking up a third-place result was Swift Moses (4-1), who crowded second, but bounced back to finish 1¾ lengths behind Nats Warrior in 29.70. Speak Out Shea, the second of the three co-favourites,
missed out on a top-three finish by ¾ lengths. He crowded first, resulting in a finishing time of 29.76.
Fifth place went to Show Model, the last of the co-favourites. She lacked an early pace and crowded second, losing 4½ lengths in the process. She went on to complete the race in 30.12.
Coolykereen Jig (6-1) was the last-place finisher. Crowding first and second led him to a 30.32 finish that was 2½ lengths behind Show Model.
The second A2 race of the day featured a close victory for Attykitt Lane (4-1). He led second after a good start from trap two, and sprinted to a 29.40 finish to claim the top spot. Shelbourne
Stan (7-2) finished second in 29.48, despite having moved slowly away and crowded third. He was only a single length out of a potential win.
Moscow Spangler (4-1) took third place after leading to first. He matched Shelbourne Stan’s time of 29.48 by finishing a shoulder’s length behind him. Despite a clear run, Inishowen Ace
(9-2) finished a neck’s length out of the top three with his time of 29.51.
Swift Lesson, the 9-4 favourite, got a lesson from the four dogs that raced past him. He was forced to check first, and wound up in fifth place. His time of 29.63 placed him 1½ lengths
behind Moscow Spangler. The sixth and final position belonged to Myles Watch (4-1). He led to second, but crowded third, resulting in a loss of 1½ lengths. He went on to complete the race in 29.75.
The racing action at Swindon Greyhound Stadium resumes on Saturday, 30 October. The first race of the evening is scheduled to begin at 19:25.
