Djarum Sirnas Flypower Bali Open: Yoga Sidik punishes Rafael Valentino in Men’s Singles first round
Indonesia’s young player Yoga Sidik started his campaign in a dominating fashion as he easily stamped his mark over his lower ranked compatriot Rafael Valentino in Men’s Singles first round at Djarum Sirnas Flypower Bali Open 2012 on Monday, November 5,
in Indonesia.
The in-form Sidik, who is the 16th seed in Men’s Singles draw of the tournament, played to his maximum potential by showing a great precision and thrashed Rafael without showing even a least amount of mercy.
Sidik was aggressive on court as he did not miss even a single chance of executing powerful smashes and remained successful in winning the battle in straight games with a crushing margin while consuming just 24 minutes on court.
On the contrary, the lower ranked Rafael was in all sorts of trouble as he failed to put up strong resistance against the powerful and accurate shots of his impressive opponent and bowed down to him without even getting closer.
Right from the opening points of first game, Sidik performed extremely well as he played with wonderful speed and accuracy which earned him strong positions in the opening half.
Until the mid-game interval, it was the impressive Sidik who sailed smoothly and took an amazing lead on the score board.
In the concluding half, the higher ranked Sidik did not show any sign of confusion as he was in complete control of the game and stayed in lead.
The underdog Rafael, on the other hand, could not change things around after the one-minute break as he lost his focus on court.
The positive and aggressive play of Sidik kept him in lead and he ended up the first game in a dominating fashion with a crushing 21-12 score on the board.
In the second set, Rafael geared up his speed to play positive badminton but he failed to create pressure on his higher ranked rival.
On the other hand, Sidik entertained the crowd with his impressive craft by playing attacking badminton and won the set with a smashing 21-12 score on the board.
The 16th seeded Sidik emerged as the clear winner in this opening round encounter with a one-sided margin of 21-12 and 21-12.
