Djibril Cisse rejected huge offer from Chinese club to join Lazio: Serie A news
Lazio striker, Djibril Cisse, has revealed that he rejected a lucrative offer from a Chinese club to join the Biancazzurri this summer.
The Frenchman revealed that Chinese club, Guangzhou Evergrande, offered him huge sums to join them this summer but he opted for a competitive league. The 30-year-old still hopes to play for the French national team and believes
that his dream can be fulfilled only if he plays in a competitive league.
While talking to the reporters, Cisse said, “I received various offers. The Chinese champions Guangzhou Evergrande offered me €20m for two and a half year. I opted to refuse it, though, as I still wanted to have a chance of playing
for the French national side again. I didn’t want to go and play my football in a country so far away.”
Cisse joined Edy Reja’s side from Panathinaikos for an undisclosed fee during the summer and has formed a formidable partnership with fellow new signing, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miroslav-Klose-c26049. The striker’s career has been hampered by constant injury
problems of late but he has had a terrific time with the Greek side.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 star added that he is far better player now than he was three or four years back. He added that he has become a lot mature now and feels much better despite losing bit of pace.
“I’m a better player now than I was in the past. I may have lost a little in terms of pace, but my positional sense is better. As long as I am playing football, I’ll always believe that I can play for the national side.”
Cisse spent two years with the Greek side and had a terrific time as he scored 47 goals in 61 matches. The Frenchman has had a great start to his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 career too and has scored 5 goals in 4 matches thus far. Along with the Chinese
outfit, Sunderland was also interested in signing the Frenchman for a second stint at the Stadium of Light.
