Djibril Cisse reveals his reasons for joining Lazio is to get back to French national squad
Striker, Djibril Cisse, has revealed that he joined Lazio to win back a place in the French national team squad.
Cisse has not featured in an international match since the last group stage game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 because playing for them will enhance his chances of getting a national team call-up.
The 29-year-old believes that Serie A is the best league in the world and Lazio is a top team and his performances will not go unnoticed at the Stadio Olimpico Rome.
Talking to the reporters Cisse said, “Serie A is one of the best Leagues in the world, so I’m eager to discover it and test myself against Europe’s top defences. We will have a super squad at Lazio and this new experience is a great challenge for me.”
“I’ll be taking on some stronger defences than I am accustomed to, so I’m curious to see how I do. I had two excellent campaigns in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908, but evidently that was not enough. I know how good I am and what I want.”
The former Olympique Marseille man is in rich vein of form for the past couple of seasons but his performances have gone unnoticed to the national team strikers. Cisse scored 47 goals in 60 appearances for the Greek side, Panathinaikos, in his two seasons
with the club.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 star added that French national team manager, Laurent Blanc, knows the Italian league very well and he wants to include strikers who can score in the top leagues of the world. Cisse is confident that he will be a success at Lazio and
will become a first-team starter in Edy Reja’s setup.
The former Auxerre star made his international debut against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cyprus-c2881 later that year in the Euro 2004 qualifiers. Cisse has scored 13 goals in 40 appearances for the French national side and has not scored
a goal since the 1-1 draw against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016 in 2005.
