Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, Isner: Potential semi-finalists of 2011 US Open – Tennis Special
Unlike the previous tournaments, the US Open 2011 is somewhat going as per analysed. All of the top seeds are still in the line up as the Grand Slam closes to its final rounds. However, there is still a little bit suspicion that
the ‘Gamemakers’ would step in to spoil the event.
Some analysts say that the results have already been altered; however, believing that right now is just not possible. There are many players wanting to hold the crown and everyone has their own reasons. The Swiss Maestro Roger
Federer, who has been longing to win one final Grand Slam before he chooses to retire or the struggling King of clay, Rafael Nadal, who has been pushed off the top spot and misses to sit in the spot light?
Other than Federer and Nadal, other contenders trying their luck over and over again to regain stardom include former world No.1, Andy Roddick, who longs to see the shining US Open trophy in his hands.
The fact of the matter is that all those who long to grab the shining metal have Novak Djokovic standing there as their worst fear. Although the Serbian lost to the Brit Andy Murray, who also is in the event at the moment, his
lost does not depict his loss in the US Open.
Predicting the semi-finalist of the US Open is more like a simple math equation. Consider the fact that Nadal equals the comeback star and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga cancels out the Swiss Maestro as he did in his previous fixtures, then
that is equal to John Isner, the gigantic American, beating the over confident Brit Andy Murray, to sit in front of the Serbian Juggernaut in the semis.
Starting with the Brit, the reason he will fall is that he is more of a fluke. Although his transitional play from defence to offence is undoubted, the fact remains that Isner has been pulling off strings of every player who comes
against him. Comparatively, Isner has held 2 titles this year and is standing with an 8 match winning streak inclusive of his win at Winston-Salem.
Secondly, the former world No.1, Andy Roddick is likely to beat the world No.5, David Ferrer as he enjoys the home court advantage, a factor that has played in his favour a lot in the past. Seemingly the world No.5 has better
ranking, however, the American can easily overpower the Spaniard using his lighting serves and forehands in combinations with the fast circuit.
The most anticipated quarterfinal result will be whether Tsonga will continue to reign over the former world No.1 or will Federer beat the Frenchman in their third meeting this season. Fed’s match against Juan Monaco was not much
of a hurdle; however, Tsonga blistered the higher ranked world No.7, Mardy fish, to make it this far. Although Federer was predicted a win after losing at Wimbledon, the Frenchman again hampered the world No.3 in Rogers Cup in round 3. Nevertheless, some predict
a win for the 30-year-old as he aims to end his career in lime light.
Although Nadal is still struggling to find his form since the 2011 Wimbledon final, pundits still believe the Spaniard falling to Djokovic on every occasion this season has what it takes to move past Gilles Muller and Roddick or
Ferrer, though it might be a tough five set battle.
With the stage set for the quarterfinalists, experts believe the semi-finalist will be those predicted. Without any Divine or corporate intervention, fans can to a certain degree of surety expect a Djokovic Nadal or Djokovic Isner
final.
