http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Godin on the score sheet in an impressive first half for Atletico Madrid against Real Valladolid over the weekend. As Los Colchoneros secured all three points on offer and moved into La Liga top-4, the highlight of the match was
Miroslav Djukic’s sending off in the second period.
The Serbian coach did not complete the whole fixture in the dugout as he was sent off for excessive protests midway through the second half.
Despite the fact that Real Valladolid manager’s expulsion did not irk a response from the players, Djukic was displeased with the actions of the match officials. The player turned coach did not shy away from voicing his feelings, bringing wrath on the referee
and his team of linesmen.
Djukic hit out against the principle of excessive protests as he stated that he is in his very right to talk about issues of the match. He coyly reflected to the times when General Franco reigned supreme in the Iberian Peninsula, questioning why is the freedom
of expression pulled down on the football pitch.
“Some do not realise that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Franco-c14050 is dead and that freedom of expression is allowed. I do not understand why you cannot politely ask the referee about certain issues,” the Serbian fumed after the match.
Reflecting on the details of La Liga fixture, Djukic claimed that Real Valladolid deservedly lost the league encounter for their hapless performance in the first half.
He berated his players as ‘wimps’ but praised them for their second half performance, adding that Valladolid footballers will do well if they whitewash memories of the first interval from their minds.
“We deserved for being wimps, not entering the field boldly, as we did in the second half.”
“In the first we were worthless, whilst in the second we showed very good attitude. We will delete that first half from our memories.”
“The biggest culprit is me, because I have conveyed to my players the courage to play in this game. We lost in every way. It was disastrous and I was embarrassed for the first half we produced.”
