Zenit St. Petersburg’s goalkeeper has decided to hang up his boots, insisting that lack of first-team action persuaded him to make one of the toughest decisions of his life
Zenit St. Petersburg shot-stopper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dmitri-Borodin-c11391, has announced his retirement, insisting that he has made up his mind to leave Petrovsky stadium on a good note after growing tired of the bench role being provided to him at the
St. Petersburg club.
The 35-year-old, who moved to the Russian Premier League club after leaving Anzhi Makhachkala back in 2009, is yet to make an appearance for the defending champions this season after falling down the pegging order behind Vyacheslav
Malafeev and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yuri-Zhevnov-c37682.
During his four year long stay at Zenit, Borodin managed to win one Russian Cup, Russian Super Cup along with back-to-back league titles respectively.
The former Torpedo Moscow man revealed that he could have played for another season but decided to give his precious time to his family, which has always complained him about coming late.
“It is really difficult to train with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 in cold weather and I realized that it makes no sense to do this now. So, I make up my mind.”
“It makes no sense to play for the reserve team at this age.  Neither I want to leave from the St. Petersburg club nor did I receive any proposals from any team. But I think I have nothing to prove. So, I am leaving on a positive
note. But I'm not disappointed.” The former FC Khimki player was quoted as saying.
Borodin lamented lack of opportunity, insisting that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Spalletti did not give him a chance to prove his worth during his stay with the Russian outfit after sticking with the same old players in the composition.
“No harsh feelings but the coach ignored my even when I was enjoying top form.” He concluded.
The Russian national went on to tell his future plans, saying that he along with his partner are working on a project. However, he denied the information that he is considering to become a goalkeeping coach in the near future.
