The Russian national assured Lokomotiv Moscow fans of scoring more goals and compared himself to Zenit St. Petersburg’s Alexander Kerzhakov.
News in Russia had earlier suggested that Lokomotiv Moscow striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dmitri-Sychev-c11421, is set to leave the Moscow-based club during the winter transfer window. However, the player has himself quashed the rumours linking him with a
move away from the Russian outfit by revealing his love for the Parovozy fans.
The 28-year-old goal-shy forward was subject of interest from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, St. Etienne and Norwich City FC.
Rumours started to appear in the media after the 28-year-old failed to impress during the ongoing season, having scored just six goals in 31 league appearances.
Sychev, who joined the Railroaders in 2004, revealed that he is emotionally attached to the Loko fans and assured them of his stay for another year.
“I cannot imagine myself anywhere else. I think that I will not get such a sincere attitude anywhere else and this is not flattery. Locomotive is my second home, and it's not just the words.” The former Spartak Tambov player
was quoted as saying.
Sychev went on to reveal that, though, the Loko fans played a vital role in helping him stay with the Russian outfit, it was the Parovozy president, Olga Smorodskaya, who convinced him to extend his stay.
He praised Smorodskaya and admitted that the President is an honest and wise man.
The former Spartak Moscow player admitted that he deserve criticism and assured the fans of further hard work during the third league round.
“I am physically fit now. I don’t care whatever the media says because in my opinion I am having a good season so far.” Sychev concluded.
Though the attacker admitted that his playing style needs to be altered a bit, Sychev is of the view that he can never become as good as Zenit St. Petersburg striker, Alexander Kerzhakov.
Kerzhakov has been in blistering league form this season, having scored 16 goals in 22 league appearances. Sychev admitted that surpassing the former Dynamo Moscow forward would be a tough ask, but added that he is getting closer
with every game.
