Dmitry Tursunov prevails over Roman Borvanov in the second round – Istanbul Challenger 2012 
World number 147, Dmitry Tursunov, conquered the Moldovan professional, Roman Borvanov in the second round of the American Express Istanbul Challenger 2012 held at the hard courts of Turkey. The Russian stamped
his straight sets victory, 6-2, 6-4 in approximately one hour.
The 29-year-old Russian professional very confidently stepped on the hard courts and drew the first blood. He secured a 2-1 lead in the third game but immediately after that the score line evened out to 2-all.
He gleefully advanced to break his rival’s serve with a 4-2 score. As Borvanov failed to provide any resistance to his challenger, Tursunov nudged forward to win the set with a 6-2 score.
Ranked 287th in the ATP World Tour Rankings, Moldovan professional fired two aces onto his rival and manifested a 61 percent first serve precision. He won nine of 14 and three of nine
second deliveries. The higher ranked German followed the lead and had 45 percent first serve accuracy, with seven of 10 first and nine of 12 second serve points. However, both players were unable to secure even a single serve break.
The final set proved to a more interesting battle between the two participants as they keenly eyed on the victory. This time around, the 30-year-old Moldova participant struggled hard to gain the top spot and
resisted his rival’s overpowering aces, squaring the scores after every alternate game. The right-hander Russian challenger quickly nudged the last two games, to triumph his 6-4 win.
The Russian contender, formally ranked in world top-20, displayed his excellent run of form and bombarded his rival with four high paced aces and did not even double fault once. He had a reasonable initial serve
accuracy of 76 percent, converting 17 of 22 points. In the end, he bagged home 29 of 56 points. The Moldovan senior has a lower initial serve accuracy of 56 percent, securing 12 of 15 first and seven of 12 second deliveries.
The eighth seed Russian will contest against the top seeded Tunisian professional, Malek Jaziri. He previously gave a straight sets defeat to Radu Albot in the second round of the ATP Challenger.
