Dmv legal presence document?

i live in CA and i am about to get my permit but my passport is expired n it would take six weeeks to renew it and my green card was lost a couple of months ago and i dont want to wait another six months to replace it so i've used my I-797(notice of action) but when i went the lady said there is suppose to be a stamp on the bottom ....is this true??what can i do to get a stamp on the bottom

  1. She is true. Normally, consulate stamp on bottom of I-797 showing the action.

    - You can present your VISA copy [which would be valid, I guess] and that is enough for them

    - They only need a proof showing, your entry is LEGAL in US and you are not an illegal resident in US.

    - Present your case to DMV officer and then he will guide you which document you can present to them.
