Dmytro Chygrynskiy admits Zenit St. Petersburg were terrific against Shakhtar Donetsk
In the latest group stage game of UEFA Champions League, Shakhtar Donetsk drew 2-2 against Zenit St. Petersburg at Donbass Arena.
In the aftermath of the result, the Miner defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dmytro-Chygrynskiy-c11449, expressed his frustration on the team performance and admitted that the Ukraine-based club did not deserve to win the European encounter at home against a well organized opposition.
The home team managed to score the opening goal but could not hold on to the lead and conceded an equalizer. Shakhtar made the score line 2-1 before half time but the Meshki cancelled out the lead, in what was an exciting and entertaining display from both
sides.
Shakhtar are still at the bottom of the group table after claiming a draw in a four-goal thriller at home. Having previously claimed a 1-1 draw against Apoel FC, the Moles have once again failed to claim the much needed three points.
The Ukrainian defender highlighted that it’s difficult to progress to the later stages of the Champions League but insisted that the squad has faith in the coach, Mircea Lucescu.
Speaking on the team’s performance, he said:
“We left plenty of space and were not organized at the back. Zenit took full advantage of our weakness and exploited our defence. Zenit also acted a lot more than we expected. They have fast players and one can see how well their team can initiate a dangerous
counter attack.”
He added: “We tried against Zenit and Apoel but failed. Our chances to progress are low, but we still believe we can do it.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Barcelona-c39078 player admitted that Zenit are the favourites to lead the group, irrespective of their opening day loss against the Cypriot First Division club, Apoel FC.
Having been drawn against the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 and Apoel, Zenit are currently at the second spot on the group table.
Chygrynskiy admitted that Zenit deserved the victory because they were at the top of their game and assured the fan of an improved performance in the remaining group stage matches.
The 24-year-old revealed that they are working hard and demanded an altered performance from his teammates when they take on Zenit in the upcoming group stage match at Petrovsky stadium.
