Dmytro Zavadsky advances into second round of Men’s Singles event – Yonex Dutch Open Update
Ukraine’s Dmytro Zavadsky played impeccable badminton and outshined Vincent De Vries to march into second round of Yonex Dutch Open on Wednesday, October 10, 2012.
This Men’s Singles encounter, staged at local badminton arena of Almere, lasted for just 29 minutes as the native shuttler hardly put any resistance and surrendered tamely in both games.
Meanwhile, the third seeded player Dmytro displayed an unbeatable craft on the court and sealed a splendid victory with scoreboard flashing 21-16 and 21-14 margin in his favour.
Now he will lock horns with the Austrian campaigner David Obernosterer and a win will take him into pre quarter-finals of the tournament.
Dmytro made his intentions clear straight away in the beginning of first set as he established a decent lead with four consecutive points.
Though, next couple of rallies saw him making some fatal mistakes but still he did not allow the opposing shuttler to proceed.
The Ukrainian shuttler put an extra effort just before the interval and placed an indomitable total of 11 by gathering few successive points.
After the mid-game break, De Vries got into commanding position by prevailing in a couple of uninterrupted rallies but this short campaign could not make any difference.
Dmytro bounced back with a strong reply and cornered his challenger with a flurry of well placed strokes. This time he did not repeat previous mistakes and claimed first match point with a staggering knock of 21-16.
The second set kept the audience glued to their chairs until half time but it turned into a dead contest in second half as the Dutch shuttler failed to match his competitor’s skills and crashed out of the home event.
Initially, it was felt that De Vries will survive this nerve-racking contest as he remained close on points table but then his opponent tipped the scale in his favour with a strong backlash.
Dmytro started making progress after 7-7 and strengthened his grip by putting a respectable score of 11-8 on the board.
He maintained this rhythm after the interval and widened the gap with 16-10. This lead helped him to seal a splendid victory with 21-14 margin.
