Dmytro Zavadsky ousts Arvind Bhat in Men’s Singles first round of Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold 2012
Ukraine’s emerging player Dmytro Zavadsky made his presence felt to the world as he ousted India’s Arvind Bhat in Men’s Singles first round of Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 at Basel, Switzerland, on Tuesday, March 13.
Zavadsky, who has been working really hard for the last couple of years to prove his worth at international level, found a perfect start in Swiss Open as he overpowered his experience Indian opponent in a thrilling 54-minute fight.
On the other hand, Bhat played well in the first set but failed to continue his positive run in the following games and lost the match by a decent margin.
The starting set of the match was interesting when both players displayed their elevated skills and remained close. Until the interval, Bhat managed to set up a reasonable lead of 11-8.
After the break, Zavadsky tried his best to level the score but his rival was everywhere in the court. The Indian showed a wonderful aggression in the concluding part of the game while keeping the pace at the maximum level.
On the other hand, Zavadsky could not cope up with the speed of his Indian opponent and lost the set with a one-sided 10-21 score on the board.
In the second game, Zavadsky accelerated his speed and troubled his opponent by playing positive badminton. He managed a small lead of 11-9 until the 60-second interval.
After the break, Zavadsky continued playing positive badminton and did not lose his focus at any stage. He played fast and planned game and managed to win the set with a 21-16 score on the board.
In the deciding set, both shuttlers started their run aggressively and reached at 5-5 when Zavadsky took over the control. He dictated the pace and pushed his challenger in all corners of the court. He was dominant in the opening half by reaching at 11-7.
After the break, Zavadsky continued his smashing run in the game as he played with wonderful precision and ended the set with a remarkable difference of 21-14.
The Ukrainian emerged as the winner of this 54-minute contest with a 10-21, 21-16 and 21-14 score on the board.
