  1. Dak I agree with Tim about floater, but we shock our pool about every two weeks especially if we have lots of people using it.  We just broadcast it around the pool.  We also put Baking Soda in to help stabilize pool ph making the chlorine more efficient and last longer. Read the directions on the bag.  It comes in 5 lb bags, and is inexpensive, this will help you maintain chlorine in your pool.

    Good Luck

  2. i disagree you need to shock your pool once a week at least if it needs it, depending on usage. you need to keep tablets also because tablets have stabilizers in them and that helps keep the sun from taking it. try taking a sample to a pool company and having it tested and see what they tell you. im willing to bet your stabilizer levels are too low. they also sell liquified sunscreen for pools also that would also help keep the chlorine up.

also the baking soda doesnt raise the pH it raises alkalinity with out having a great effect on the pH but it will come up slightly. soda ash is used to raise pH.

  3. With a floater you should be able to maintain the chlorine level. You might need to adjust the floater to allow more water flow thru.

Depending on the size of the pool you might need more than one.

Don't keep shocking the pool. It should only need to be done maybe once to get things going for the season.
