Should an 11-week old have a set "bed time"? My daughter goes to sleep anywhere from 6pm to 8:30pm. Or, do you think she's still too little to be worrying about a set bed time?

  1. Babies will set their own schedules. That's pretty much the answer. My son didn't have a set schedule until he was about 9 months old.

  2. You are doing well, she is too young to have a bedtime and putting her on a schedule now will just frustrate you and her both.  Trust your instincts and let your daughter tell you when it is bed time.  :)

  3. I wouldnt worry about a baby that young having a bed time.  Her schedule is gonna change so much the next couple of months.  Just keep yourself flexible and try to keep her on a routine.  My kids dont have set bedtimes until they start preschool.  Until then they have a time frame that I like to have them in bed by but theres nothing like trying to make a child who is hyper and wide awake lay down in bed and go to sleep when they arent tired - so we just kinda go with the flow and dont stress about a set bed time.

  4. babies are so real and authentic when she feels tired she will close her eyes, when she feels like staying awake she will open her eyes.  She will do what her body and mind ask her to do like an angel.  No worries.  Worry about it when she starts school so that she will be alert and ready to go in the mornings.  - one thing that really helped me is that I got my daughter used to noise at a very young age and when she is tired she can just dose off whenever.  Don't get her noise sensitive, because I know a few people who have lost sleep over the smallest noise.  She'll thank you in the long hall.,  Your a good mom just for asking this question/ shows you are a concerned and curious mom, cheers

  5. um NO. let the kid sleep as long as she wants. wait till about 4-6months to set a bed time. you need to LOVE your child now, bedtimes are for OLDER children. if you start now, you will never get to go anywhere cause you will have to be back before bed time, you child won't want to stay over at other ppls house cause she wil want to go to bed at a certain time and the other kids won't go to bed then. OUR son was never on a schedule , after Many ppl told us he needs to be for school, and now he is in school and NEVER had a hard time adjusting to going to school! i just want to throw that in their faces!

  6. I think she is way way to young to have a set bed time.  When my children were that age they went to sleep when ever they felt like sleeping and woke up the same!

  7. She's still too young, actually its very good that she goes to bed early already!! DOn't worry, she'll get on a schedule eventually

    God Bless

  8. The sooner you start a normal bed time, the easier it will be once she gets older to get her to bed on time.  Allowing her to choose her own bed time (even at 11 weeks old ) may cause the child to want to choose their own bed time later in life, which can become very bad.

  9. no, she is a nit young yet. my daughter is 12mos and goes to bed when she is tired. i find that if i put her into bed and she isnt tired enough to doze over, she just cries. but if i know she is tired but fighting it, ill put her to bed and usually she is sleeping in no time.
