Do 2nd/1st degree Burns Qualify for "Great Bodily InjurieS?"

The burn was a few inches wide, it was red and blistered. It took about a week to FULLY heal, and the scar that was left by the burn was barely noticeable (even to the victim). Could this fall under "great bodily injury" in California? Can anyone give me examples of cases of great bodily injuries?

  1. Could go as a misdemeanor with a minimal fine If the Victim pressed charges.Also depends on the Circumstances.


  2. Here is the California Penal Code's defenition of "Serious Bodily Injury."

    (4) "Serious bodily injury" means a serious impairment of physical

    condition, including, but not limited to, the following:  loss of

    consciousness; concussion; bone fracture; protracted loss or

    impairment of function of any bodily member or organ; a wound

    requiring extensive suturing; and serious disfigurement.

    You can find the defenition under CA Penal Code 243.
