Question:

Do 2nd/1st degree burns qualify as "Great Bodily Injuries?"

The burn was a few inches wide, it was red and blistered. It took about a week to FULLY heal, and the scar that was left by the burn was barely noticeable (even to the victim). Could this fall under "great bodily injury" in California? Can anyone give me examples of cases of great bodily injuries?

  1. You asked this same question on the Law Enforcement thread. But as a police officer here's how I call it, I am not a doctor/paramedic/emt, if someone at a scene wants to be transported to the hospital and the paramedic's agree that they need to go then it's SBH (substantial bodily harm). The DA can always downgrade the charges. How did this injury occur, were you at fault, are you being sued? These are all questions I am wondering. Remember some people think a broken nail is the end f the world, I have seen a man who was shot in the arm refuse all assistance, walk to the 7-11 get a maddogg 24oz and call it a night without so much as a second thought. Without more info I cannot help you
