Do 85% of women really get pregnant within the first year of trying?

If so, then why does it seem so many women who are unsucessfully trying to conceive fill up the message boards every day. It seems that there are much more than 15% of women trying to get pregnant who do not conceive within the first year.

How long have you been trying?

We're going on our 4th month (but it seems like a year!)

  1. Actually, the correct figure is 80% of women, under age 35, who have no previous miscarriages or other medical problems (PCOS) and are consistently having unprotected s*x.

Also, you're much more likely to hear from women who are having problems with conceiving, rather than women who got pregnant.  This is called the "trying to conceive" section, so those are the women who you will hear from.

Also, you cannot count a year if you have just gotten off b/c for example or if you just had a miscarriage or if you are over 35.  Those are all factors that would change that statistic.

  2. Yes, the numbers are no in our favour!  Only 1 in 4 eggs is chromosomally viable, and then add to that any additional problems, anovulatory cycles, stress etc and you get an 80% over one year for under 35s. Scary huh?!

  3. I'll let you know in 3 months!

  4. its NOT about the "trying" ... its more about the body.

thats how i feel. obviously THATS A LIE (the 85% thing) bcuz if it were true, WHY are all these little, immature, not caring or thinking straight CHILDREN ask on these message boards CONSTANTLY,

"am i pregnate please help"   type of c**p.

its more about you and your significant other and how "far" his little dudes can last in you...lol...but then again...thats my opinion!
