Err, I guess it depends on the person. A lot of people are in love with the accent, like me. I guess some people could find reason to dislike Irish people, just like everyone in the world. Personally, I love them!!

Americans love the Irish.

I was in a pub once (in Ireland) and was talking to an American from Kentucky. He claimed that he was 1/16 (1 sixteenth!!!) Irish. The whole bar erupted. The guy hadn't a clue what we were laughing at, but he was good fun. His wife came back later after some shopping. the poor guy was as pissed as a f**t, could barely walk. wife laughed but was far from impressed.

Generally, yes. Of course there are idiots of all nationalities but Americans have an idealistic view of Ireland that is usually very good.

Since many Americans are of Irish descent, I would say yes. Most Americans consider the Irish, as a group,  to be good friends and neighbors.
