  1. Brighton?  What Brighton?  Brighton, Connecticut?  Brighton, Texas?  Brighton, UK?

Most Americans know that there are many cities in the US and world that are named "Brighton."  Some of us have reasons for knowing where one or more of those cities are - maybe we've lived there, or visited there, or read something about it.  But for most of us, if we need to know exactly where something is, we look it up on a map.

Would you know where to find The Sinks, or Stinking Creek, or New Burlington Village, or Millbrook, without me specifying the country you were supposed to know about?

  2. Come on, you're talking about people who mostly don't even know where London is, and who think Scotland is in England!

That said, most British people are pretty ignorant about American destinations as well, with the exceptions of New York City, Las Vegas, and Disney World.

  3. Yes, I am an American and I know where Brighton is. I've been to the UK on holiday several times.
