  1. You do know that boxing isn't just throwing punches, but strategy, defense, control of the pace, ring generalship and counter-punching, as well, right?

    Some fighters move because that's one of their strengths.  It's not like Mayweather doesn't also hit people.

    Maybe you should ask why non-Americans seem so one-dimensional?  I wouldn't make that statement, myself, but the shallow perspective your question implies seems to beg that comparison.


  2. You have to win the fight. It doesn't matter if you do this while going forward or backwards. It's a matter of personal style and not of nationality.

    And besides, walking backwards is a good way to win against dull agression.

  3. Depends on which one your talking about.

    Take Pavlik for example, never seen him go any place but foreword.

    Hopkins was backing away from Calzaghe because his whole strategy for the fight was defense. Hopkins knew he couldn't keep up with the work rate of Calzaghe so he tried to make the fight go at a pace he could follow.
