I've always heard "checklist", but I was watching a documentary with U.S. pilots and they said "check-off list".

  1. Checklist

  2. Its suppose to be check off list, but we call it checklist.

  3. I always heard check list..... and then heard...  it is a CHECK list, not a DO list....   most companies stress the need to perform the items first...  known as a "flow" where prior to entering the next phase of flight, you perform all pertinent actions before calling for the check list... some are quick and easy.. some are lengthy... but the idea being that you set/swich/align/check/verify/turn on/off  everything needed and then call for the check list which confirms everything is done correctly and postioned properly.  You will typically have an entry, before start, after start, taxi, before take off, take off , climb, cruise, descent, approach, before landing, after landing, shutdown, securing checklist.  Every company has it's own methods.. and when you switch companies, you get to learn all their quirks... and they will nail you to a tree for calling improperly... I was gigged on a check ride for saying gear's up  when it says on the check list  GEAR UP   yes.. they watch it that tightly.
