No, pennies are fairly useless these days. We throw them over into a bowl or drawer and they just pile up on us.

Yes. I have a stack of pennies on my dresser because they're too cumbersome to carry around and count at the cash register. They specifically mean 1-cent coins.

pennies are a type of coin (the lowest denomination) and as far as i know dont have any common nicknames so you wont confuse them for anything else.

its good luck to find a penny on the ground (i didnt know if you knew that or not) and yes, pennies are one cent peices!

As an american, I use the word pennies commonly, but only as describing one cent coins.
