Do Americans need a visa to visit Germany?

Also where does a person have to go to get a working visa for Germany and is it easy for a 19 year old to get? Would you have to have found employment before you get there?

  1. To "visit Germany" on vacation or business, one only needs a USA passport.  I do not know what is needed if you are an American and want to "work" in Germany, or "live" in Germany........those rules probably are a mite different.


  2. for a visit, you do not need a visa; to work? yes you will have to have a job first and then get a visa, what do you do in life? you have to look on the internet, such a job in Germany;

  3. A US citizen can visit Germany for up to 90 days without a visa.  Anyone who wants to work is Germany must obtain a residence permit in the form of a visa. Where needed, a work permit will be included in the visa.  US citizens may apply for the residence permit for work after entering Germany without a visa, and after finding a job.

  5. wouldnt you need to go to the german embassy in washington dc.        if you get there , mail me and let me know what my homeland is like.  my great grand parents came from germany.  good luck ,  ken.
