Do Americans who severly over-extended themselves financially have a right to complain about the economy?

And expect someone else like the government to fix their problems for them?

People (legally) come to this country poorer than the average American on unemployment insurance. Somehow they find a way to become successful. This country offers opportunity to those who choose not bemoan their current malaise. In other words, if you don't like the situation you're in, you have the power to change it. Don't wait for the government to fix it, because they won't!

  1. Massive SUVS and expansive houses have been the downfall of many.  Why did they think they could have it all without paying with years and years of hard work and dedication to a job.

  2. Seems to be working pretty well for them in an election year. It seems that within the democratic process, stupidity is rewarded. How screwed up can a system get?

Now if they could just come up with a way to help out those of us who were smart enough NOT to buy a home we couldn't afford. . . . .

  3. There are some who truly did and have tried but failed and they had some bad backsets like illness or things like that now i can understand that but  not the others remember this stimulis check we got well  we may see us payin enough taxes to put it back someday  who knows lol

  4. Agree. We have a problem figuring out the differences between "want" and "need" in this country anymore.

  5. You wouldn't think so but some people I guess do.

  6. You are correct. The immigrant Vietnamese living along the coast of Louisiana were back in business and living in their own homes 6 months after Hurricane Katrina because they took care of their own.

As far as Americans- God Bless them- because for the most part people don't understand the difference between want and need. I may want a new tv but the 30 year old set in my living room works just fine for me and my husband. The present economic mess is a result of greedy and or ignorant people who didn't understand or didn't care what they were getting themselves into. You don't need a credit card and you don't need a big massive home. We took out a 30 mortgage but we will be finished paying for it in 10 years. This is because we don't spend money foolishly.

Every dime we spend has to pass the wow test. Eating out doesn't generate a lot of wows for us so we don't do it. Having a new car didn't generate the wows needed to warrant the price. Owning a lake house 1 hour away did so we bought one. Owning a home in my husband's country  so we could go whenever we please did pass the wow test. We paid cash for both of the other homes.  You can't really pay cash for a primary residence in this country so we had to compromise and get a loan.
